Our Day of Sharing is this weekend, December 6 and 7, at Country Kitchen. I’m demonstrating several decorated cookies, including these Santa beard and mustache cookies on a stick. I tested these exciting cookies on my nieces when we were celebrating Christmas over Thanksgiving weekend. They were a huge hit with the girls!
The cookies were cut using a mustache cutter from Fred set, and the santa beard, made from the pattern (pdf file here). Both were cut, then the mustache was placed on top of the beard and gently pressed to connect the beard with the mustache before baking. After the beard/mustache cookies were baked, I added extra icing on the back to tightly secure the stick to the cookie and added extra icing on the back to secure the seam of the mustache and beard. When cooled, the cookies were iced with white run sugar icing. When the icing was set, I piped details using tip #1.5, then flocked using white sanding sugar.
These Christmas tree treats in girly colors with sparkle were made for my book, Decorate Cakes, Cupcakes, and Cookies with Kids. Cayman, a great friend of my daughter and my sister-in-law, Kelly, decorated these treats. This was one of the two projects that got cut from the book. Buttercream is used to pipe leaves on the tree cookies (tip #352)and the tree cake (tip #366). The trees on the cupcakes are made using the tree cutter from the Winter Cutie Cupcake Set. Disco dust is used to provide the most vibrant sparkle. Disco dust isn’t food approved, so technically, the ornaments and star on the tree and the trees on cupcakes should be removed before consuming.
These Christmas cookies are covered with rolled fondant using various texture mats from my Cookie Cutter Texture Sets. The holly is created using a plunger cutter from PME. Fine details were piped with royal icing.
